Board committee (advises the Board)

The residents who look at Palm Hill's longer-range needs, ask residents what they want, and look after the recycling and sanitation area, then advise the Board.

What it does

  • Runs park surveys and town halls and works through the results.
  • Studies bigger ideas, like the laundry, one library instead of two, and changes in the North Clubhouse, and recommends to the Board.
  • Oversees the recycling and sanitation area, including scrap metal.
  • Keeps track of water shutoffs in the park.
  • Works with Finance and Buildings and Grounds on a plan for future repairs.

Its role at Palm Hill

An advisory committee appointed by the HOPH Board each year. The Board combined the Planning and Environmental committees into one in February 2021. It studies and recommends; the Board decides. A Board member serves as liaison and reads its reports at Board meetings. Building work it backs goes to Buildings and Grounds.

How it can help you

  • Answer a park survey when one comes by email.
  • Bring an idea for the park's future to a meeting, or email the committee.
  • Recycling and scrap metal questions: the recycling volunteer listed in the LINK.
  • Volunteer at the recycling center; help is needed most when the winter residents leave.

When it meets

Usually the second Wednesday of the month at 1:00 p.m., South Clubhouse Board Room and Zoom. Any resident may attend. To speak on an agenda item, file a request before the meeting; you get up to 3 minutes. Minutes are in the HOPH Information section of the website; recordings are on the Committees page.

Residents: how to reach the Planning and Environmental Committee and who is on it now are on the Group Contacts and Members page (you'll be asked to log in).
