← How Palm Hill Works
Separate not-for-profit (independent of HOPH)
Free loans of medical equipment, from a cane to a wheelchair, for anyone living in Palm Hill.
What it does
- Lends medical equipment free, for as long as you live here: canes, walkers, wheelchairs, shower chairs, toilet-seat extenders and more.
- Lends highchairs, strollers and Pack 'n Plays for visiting grandchildren. (No car seats or booster seats.)
- Runs Neighbor 2 Neighbor: a daily call or text to anyone who would like one, especially if you live alone, so a fall or an illness never goes unnoticed.
- Pays its own way with the annual Spaghetti Dinner, Taco Nights, a 50/50 and T-shirt sales.
Its role at Palm Hill
Its own not-for-profit corporation, MESCO Neighbors, Inc., run by resident volunteers with their own board of directors. It is not part of HOPH. HOPH lets it use the MESCO building, a free-standing building off the end of the South Clubhouse on the laundry side. It goes back to 1973, when the Palm Hill Masonic Square Club began lending equipment to neighbors free of charge.
How it can help you
- Borrow equipment: call any MESCO volunteer (listed in the LINK each month). They sign it out to you and clean it when it comes back.
- Return equipment: call a volunteer to arrange it. MESCO does not repair equipment, so please mention any damage.
- Donate equipment: call a volunteer first to see what is needed.
- Sign up for Neighbor 2 Neighbor: call any MESCO volunteer or email Neighbor2NeighborPH@gmail.com.
- Support it: come to the Spaghetti Dinner (November, South Clubhouse; tickets at the coffees) or play the 50/50 at the Monday North coffee.
